Mission-3

Hi All,

I am happy to inform you all that we have completed 3rd mission by giving helping hand towards medical treatment of severe anemia. I have attached snap of handing over the sum to Dr. Nikam. Interestingly, Dr Nikam has liked the concept of DoPositive and agreed to be part of it going forward.
It is indeed good start. From concept to the execution of 3 initiatives; we were able to make positive difference to 125 lives with sum of INR 22,000.00 contributed by you all.
It gives sense of satisfaction that thought process of “more action than words” (i.e. DoPositive) has motivated to go on.
Regards,
Mahendra

Mission-2

Hello Folks,

Second Mission of the Do + movement was to provide Food grain for children of an Orphanage at Kamshet. It was accomplished on March, 07 2010.
It was a call by the Orphanage caretakers on Saturday, 6th March that triggered this mission. This orphanage was in urgent need of food grains as their regular supply did not come in time. I along with my Cousin (Narendra Pendse - He also works for Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram) discussed with Orphanage caretakers about their need and what exactly needed. They needed Rice, Wheat and Edible Oil the most. Estimated cost of this stuff was about Rs. 5500. We felt that we needed to help here.
On Sunday, 7th March, we went to Kamshet marketplace and bought required food grain material. Loaded the bags into my vehicle and went to the Orphanage. We met the caretakers, Teachers and the children there. Handed over the bags to them. And after spending some time and snaps (attached), returned back to Pune with a very content feeling.

Overall - it was a fantastic to be able to contribute to their lives in some way. I am sure, it was small but positive help from our side. But, looks like the very reason that DoPositive is needed was very evident in this mission. The nature of the need was urgent and relatively small for established NGOs. Here, someone like DoPositive can swiftly mobilize resources and help in the tactical way.
Some details:

Total expense was around Rs.4336.
Food grain donated
· Rice 100Kgs
· Wheat 100 Kgs
· Edible Oil Can 15 Ltr
· Sugar 5 Kgs
· Groundnut 2 Kgs

Something about the Orphanage:
This is run by a trust called "Ushataai Lokhande Charitable Trust". They have a school from 8th till 10th Standard and then Junior College as well. The Orphanage has children from around 7 till 18 years. I have attached the leaflet from the charitable trust here. They seem to have some NGOs helping them along the way.
Regards,
Datta

Mission 1

Dear friends

Mission 1 of the Do + movement, to provide school uniforms to the Kids at the Remand home in Karad, kicked off on January, 17 2010. It is an auspicious start to the year and we should aim at one such event per month going forward.
I had gone to Karad along with Mahendra yesterday and we met the Remand home officials and the 94 kids and got an idea of the sizes of the uniforms they needed. We had asked a few tailors to come over and give us a quotation for the uniform - white shirt and khakhi pant, the kids needed. The quotation from the tailors was around Rs 180 per uniform and they were not in a position to provide the uniforms in time for the January 26 timeline. They were however of the unanimous opinion that ready made uniforms would be available immediately and at lesser cost.
After visiting a few stores in Karad Market, we finally found the uniforms at Ashirwad Stores to be reasonable and the store owner was in a position to deliver all the uniforms yesterday itself. The cost of a uniform was around 110 rs and we found the material to be decent. The uniforms were delivered and handed over to the Remand Home officials and we matched the kids with the various sizes of uniforms as received from Ashirwad Stores. These uniforms will be officially handed over to kids on January, 26.
All in all, it was a pretty satisfying experience to see that with our initiative, we could do something small yet significant towards improving the condition of the kids at the Remand home. We have clicked snaps of the entire process from purchase to delivery and Mahendra would share the same along with the expense statement and purchase receipts soon.

Looking forward to active participation from all for our forthcoming initiatives.
Regards

Aniruddha
