In the month of May, 9 year old boy, Pruthiraj, was diagnosed with bone cancer. According to the treating Doctor, cancer is at second stage and can be cured with the chemotherapy treatment. Treatment is going to last for an year. Total estimated cost of treatment would be approximately 2.5 Lacs. Treatment is already in progress and his father has spent close to Rs. 80,000 so far. He needs support to continue with the ongoing treatment. His father is working at petrol pump and his earnings are not sufficient to support the treatment.
Do Positive has decided to contribute towards the treatment of Pruthiraj. It has already raised Rs 33001 and handed over the sum to his father. We wish Pruthiraj a speedy recovery and wish him all the very best!!

Mission 7 - School at Wagheshwar

The mission 7 of the do + completed on 26th January 2011, 62nd republic day of India. I along with Madhusudan and Ganesh (new members) visited school. We have handed over 270 food plates. Also, we gave 10 Pocket Dictionaries (English –Marathi) to the scholarly students. Madhusudan and Ganesh had helped for getting the plates and dictionaries.
I would like to mention some of the highlights from our visit. It was a pleasant surprise to know that students get balanced exposure of regular curriculum + Life Skills + Sports + IT. i.e. 90 % of the outgoing students i.e. 7th std are computer literate. There are three desktops per class and are available to the students to be used without time limits.
Coming back to our support, we had asked for a feedback from headmaster in what way the food plates will help them. In his words, “With these plates students can take full diet, they will gain weight, improve on health/attendance and help to reduce food wastage”. This is yet again reinforcing our thought that “small help can go a long way given at right place”.
Not to forget, this was made possible by positive thinking and support from all of you. Thank you once again for your commitment.

Mission 5 and 6 - Ashram at Kothimbe
I am happy to inform you that mission 6 of Do+ movement was accomplished on 24th July 27, 2010.
This time team was myself, Tausif and Jaijeet (newly joined members) and Mr. Mutha, who is actively involved with the ashram activities. On Saturday, 24th July, we went to Kothimbe. It is a half an hour drive from the city of Karjat (Raigad district). We met the caretakers and children there. We had a little change in our plan. On the same day, some group from Mumbai agreed to provide uniforms for all the children. Hence, caretaker requested for other essentials.
With the collected funds, we have helped for following items ( Total : Rs 5900 )
1. Innerwear – for 41 Children ( Rs. 3850 )
2. 9th Std books – 4 Sets ( Rs. 1400 )
3. 11th Std books – Marathi and English book ( Rs. 170 )
4. Long Notebooks – 3 dozens ( Rs. 480 )
We bought these items at Karjat and handed over to the caretaker.
We really had nice time with the children. We spend close to 2 hours with them. Some of them gave impromptu performances.
Apart from the satisfaction from overall activity, we could enjoy beautiful nature throughout the journey ( it was raining all the way), food prepared on chulha at ashram and mouthwatering vadapav/tea at Karajt. (Checkout snaps attached)
Thanks a lot for contributing to this initiatives and helping to create positive impact on their lives.
